Glamour modelling is a fast expanding sector of the modelling industry. It can be incredibly lucrative and can be done as a hobby or as a career. That does not mean that it is easy though. There are a lot of expectations of Glamour modelling and not living up to them can ruin your career.
Staying in shape
This is something that is fairly important in glamour modelling. Glamour modelling is different because fashion modelling sells a product, the model needs to make the audience fall in love with a product. With Glamour modelling, the idea is to make the audience (mostly me) fall in love and lust with her. That means catering to certain ideals, physically. That means eating right and regular exercise. That is not to say that there are not Plus size glamour models, there are and the same rules apply to them. They need to maintain a certain look. (source).
Being comfortable with your body
This is very important. You need to be confident with your body because that is what you are selling. Glamour modelling is all about sexy poses in little to no clothing. If you are not comfortable with your body, it will show and potentially ruin the shoot and this is not something that anyone wants to happen. Confidence in your body is key n this industry for another reason. The world is harsh, especially to those who want to post photos. There will be a lot of positive feedback. It’s the negative that can be hard to deal with though this is where body confidence can con into play so that you can ignore the negative. (source).
This is a job, a career, so you really should treat it like one. Take it seriously. No one wants to work with an unprofessional model. Do not waste time when you get to the job, it won’t just be your time that you are wasting and it can get you a bad reputation in the business which can ruin any success that you might have had. Always do your research before signing on with an agency. There are a lot of scams out there that can leave you in less than desirable situations that are hard to escape from. Always, always research. Agencies also offer a great deal of protection to their models. They know what jobs you are going to be sent on, they know who will be there and who the clients are. This means that they can always step in when something happens and someone is less than professional. An agency also has access to far more resources and clients than you could find on your own and this means that you will get wider exposure and guidance on how to best grow your career. (source).
Build up a portfolio of shots and not just body shots. Include some portraits as well. There is more to glamour modelling than a body. (source).
